OCIA

What is OCIA?
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is a process of conversion whereby adults become full participating members of the Catholic Church through the sacraments of initiation. OCIA intends to instruct catechumenates both spiritually as well as intellectually.
OCIA is for:
- Those who have not been baptized or were baptized in other faith traditions and now feel called to become Catholic.
- Adults or children older than 7 who were baptized Catholic but never received First Holy Communion and/or Confirmation.
- Fully initiated Catholics seeking deeper catechetical knowledge of their Catholic Faith.
- Anyone at all looking to learn more about Christianity.
OCIA Program
Our 2025-2026 OCIA Program will be beginning soon! We will have an Informational Session on Thursday, September 4th, 2025 at 6:30pm in the Cathedral School Library, where we will discuss the general overview of the program, class schedule, and give people a chance to formally register. For more information, please contact our Pastoral Associate, Jenna Slotnick, at jslotnick@cathedralpdx.org or (503)770-4791.
