Baptism, Infants  Registered parishioners with infants to be baptized are invited to make arrangements at an one hour preparatory session with the pastor or one of the deacons of the parish. During this session the sacrament will be discussed and a time for the baptism will be arranged. Baptisms are celebrated after the 11am Mass at selected Sundays. Call the parish office for available dates.

Baptisms, Adults  Adults wishing baptism or if already baptized, reception into the church, participate in evening sessions explaining Catholic beliefs and practices. These Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, or RCIA sessions begin each year in September and finish during the Easter season. Baptisms take place at the Easter Vigil Service. Please go to the Education page for more details.

The Sacrament of Confirmation for High School Students will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Cathedral Parish in the spring of 2014.  A program in preparation for the Scarament of Confirmation for High School students will begin on Sunday, February 9, 2014 from 4 to 5:15pm and continue until Palm Sunday. All high school age students are invited to receive the sacrament, with an emphasis on freshmen and sophomores. The initial meeting will be for the Confirmation candidates and their parents. Classes will be held on Sunday afternoon for nine consecutive weeks (excluding Spring break), culminating in the reception of the Sacrament (a date for this has not yet been set). Please call the parish office to register for classes. Interested candidates must be registered before the first meeting.

Registered adults who are baptized but not knowledgeable of Catholic beliefs and practices will be asked to join the Wednesday evening  Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) sessions. See RCIA under the Education section.  For more detailed information, contact the parish office.

Reconciliation, Penance, Confession  is available every Saturday afternoon from 4 to 5:15pm. During Advent and Lent, Penance Services will consist of scripture readings, a homily, an examination of conscience and an opportunity for individual confession. A private confession may be arranged by appointment.

Matrimony Policies and Procedures for registered parishioners at the Cathedral may be obtained by calling the parish office. Marriages should be scheduled at least six months before the planned wedding date.

Anointing of the sick This sacrament is not just for those in danger of death. It may be requested at any time by anyone who is elderly, sick, or in recovery. Many request this sacrament before entering the hospital for surgery.

Funerals Please contact the parish when there is a death in the family or when someone is near death. To be of assistance at a time like this is an extremely high parish priority. It is important to understand that a funeral does not need to be expensive. A Funeral Mass may be held with no cost to the family from the church.
